An Enlightening Read!!

A Year Without Food is Ray Maor's recount of his journey to becoming a Breatharian.This is an incredible way of life, using Prana as the soul's main life force. In a true Paradigm shift, Maor debunks the idea that man must eat and drink to survive.While there are concepts I can grasp through this book, such as emotional eating, I cannot imagine successfully turning away from food as nourishment.Maor does just this. He has the blood tests and good health to back up his claims. If you are looking for a fascinating glimpse into an alternate state of health and well being, this is a must read.While I cannot see myself becoming a Breatharian, I am glad I read this book as it has challenged my ideals and concepts of "healthy". There is no denying that we as a global body are unwell. Our portion sizes are out of control and this is reflected in the rising obesity rates.I cannot help but wonder if there is a happy medium here.
Eating to be healthy but not to fill emotional holes? This is an excellent read that will open your eyes and mind to a different way of life.

Very disappointed when I expected a book about someone who had not eaten for a year then discovered it was only days? completely inaccurate TITLE which is very unfair to customers expecting, and excited, to read about someone who had survived on Prana for a year.

This e-book review was 137 pages in length and was very interesting to read at such a discounted rate on Amazon. The main theme to this book is can human life exist or survive without food? I think that the obvious answer to anyone would be clearly and immediately, no. This book shows a man named Ray Maor take on a path of utilizing air techniques to survive. Sounds pretty crazy, huh? I thought so too. In a television production, he went eight days without food and even water. He was never alone and always watched in a secure setting. Medical doctors and others feared he would not last. This e-book is about this journey of development but also so much more. A very interesting and different read! I loved the connection between the spiritual self and the body. I believe there is a real connection. The big hit of this book is the understanding of Chi and other defined terms of spiritual guidance. I would recommend this book to anyone that is spiritual or looking for interest in the connections of the body and mind. A+ read!

About the Author
Nema and World War II were born in September 1939; history has grown increasingly more complex ever since.

Her formal education occurred in parochial schools, a convent boarding school, and at the College of Mount St. Joseph near Cincinnati, Ohio, where she received a B.A. in English.

In her search for transmundane knowledge and understanding, she has relied on her experiences, and on those of her colleagues, with vision trances, unlearned knowledge, and spiritual ecstasy, interpreted through traditional theories, practices and beliefs.

Inspired by a document received in vision trance, Liber Pennae Praenumbra (first published in the Cincinnati Journal of Ceremonial Magick (CJCM), edited by Louis Martinie), Nema wrote Maat Magick: a Guide to Self-Initiation (Samuel Weiser, Inc., 1995) to present her version of magickal Initiatory processes and progress. Her teachers were the writings of several experienced authors in the Western occult tradition: Aleister Crowley, Dion Fortune, Kenneth Grant, Frater Achad, Israel Regardie, and a few others.

This way of experiencing the world is special and it plays an important role in characterizing a number of phenomena associated with aesthetics. Some of these that the book talks about include picture perception and depiction, aesthetic experiences, formalism, the importance of uniqueness in aesthetics, and the history of vision debate.
But sometimes, in some aesthetic contexts, our attention is not at all distributed, but very much focused. Nanay closes his argument with an analysis of some paradigmatic aesthetic phenomena where our attention is focused: identification and engagement with fictional characters. And the conflict and interplay between distributed and focused attention is an important feature of many artworks.

Bence Nanay, Peterhouse, Cambridge

Bence Nanay is Professor of Philosophy and BOF Research Professor at the University of Antwerp, where he is also co-director of the Centre for Philosophical Psychology and Senior Research Associate at Peterhouse, Cambridge University. He is the author of Between Perception and Action (OUP, 2013) and the editor of Perceiving the World (OUP, 2010) and of Current Controversies in Philosophy of Perception (Routledge, forthcoming). He has published more than 90 articles on various topics mainly in philosophy of mind and in aesthetics. He used to work as a film critic and served on the jury of various major international film festivals.
